Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
For ages 5+
So excited about getting my hands on this beautiful, amazing, mind-expanding and evocative new book from the legendary author/illustrator Oliver Jeffers, before publication day!! Plus, I was lucky to get a signed preorder copy through my local Waterstones.
In this glossy and highly illustrated book the story begins with Dad calling the kids down to get into the car. They’re squabbling in the back. Dad starts the car and instead of driving down the road, they put on their space helmets and he takes off into Space! WOW! With each double spread Dad drives to a new planet and depending on how long it takes them to get there (e.g. 1 year or 2000 years). Dad then reflects this back to the time in Earth’s history …. WW2, European countries carving up Africa for their colonies, the Crimean war, the Spanish conquest of the Incas, right back to early humans when survival is what our species fought for, not each other’s land, people and treasures. This book is an absolute must!!
Creative fun
The children drew or wrote down what the story made them think about (we ran out of time to finish these in the session sadly!). So proud of them as always!
